High-performance cross-sandwich Huygens' metasurface excited by congener quadrupole

Xianyu Huang et al.

Summary: The paper proposes a new design of HMS that can achieve excitation of pure magnetic quadrupole (MQ) by optimizing unit parameters and adding glass layers to strip off interference. This results in an HMS element with extremely high transmittance and full 27π phase distribution. The peak of MQ is influenced by the thickness and position of the glass, while the peak position is only affected by the former. Moreover, wavefront manipulation performance of the element is characterized through simulations of beam deflection, focusing, and hologram reconstruction.

Creating perfect composite vortex beams with a single all-dielectric geometric metasurface

Bolun Zhang et al.

Summary: The research and application of optical vortex beams carrying orbital angular momentum have received extensive attention recently. A perfect vortex beam (PVB) has attracted attention due to its topological charge-independent intensity profile. However, the morphology singularity and complex implementation of the PVB limit its degree of freedom for multiplexing. By introducing the concept of a composite vortex beam, we propose a novel kind of PVB, called perfect composite vortex beam (PCVB), which can be directly generated using a single all-dielectric geometric metasurface rather than bulky optical systems.
