Physical and spectroscopic characteristics of lithium-aluminium-borate glass: Effects of varying Nd2O3 doping contents

Osama Bagi Aljewaw et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the influence of different Nd2O3 doping contents on the physical and optical properties of glasses, showing that Nd2O3 content affects properties such as density, ion concentration, and refractive indices. Analysis of FTIR spectra and emission spectra revealed the presence of structural units in the glasses and electronic transition characteristics of Nd3+, respectively. The proposed glass system demonstrated high sensitivity to changes in Nd2O3 contents.

Radiation shielding features for a new glass system based on tellurite oxide

M. H. A. Mhareb et al.

Summary: Ionizing radiation is increasingly common, resulting in a higher demand for radiation shielding materials. This study fabricated transparent glass samples and investigated their structural and shielding properties. The addition of molybdenum oxide enhanced the shielding qualities for gamma and neutrons, while the replacement of tellurium oxide reduced the shielding characteristics for charged particles. These findings suggest the potential use of current glasses in the radiation shielding domain.

0.25-30 kGy γ Irradiation-induced modifications on the density, optical absorption, thermo-, and photo-luminescence of the 10BaO-20ZnO-20LiF-49.3B2O3-0.7Er2O3 glass

Nimitha S. Prabhu et al.

Summary: The influence of gamma radiation doses on the 10BaO-20ZnO-20LiF-49.3B(2)O(3) -0.7Er(2)O(3) glass was analyzed in terms of density, optical absorption, and luminescence characteristics. The high doses of radiation resulted in the formation of defects in the glass, altering its optical properties. The study also demonstrated the remarkable radiation hardness of the glass as a green emission device and laser.

Gamma radiation shielding and structural features for barium strontium boro-tellurite glass modified with various concentrations of molybdenum oxide

M. I. Sayyed et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of glass samples with different compositions were synthesized and various parameters were calculated to define their physical features. The results showed that the addition of MoO3 instead of B2O3 in the glass samples can improve their structural and shielding features, indicating that they can be used as effective radiation shielding absorbers.
