Glass formation and properties of the TeO2-ZnO-BaO tellurite optical glasses

J. Hrabovsky et al.

Summary: In this study, the glass forming ability and properties of TeO2-ZnO-BaO (TZB) optical glasses prepared at 900 degrees C using the melt-quenching method were thoroughly investigated. The introduction of ZnO and/or BaO led to changes in glass transition temperature, refractive index, and density. Raman scattering was used to analyze the structure of the TZB glasses, which exhibited good thermal stability and a wide spectral region of transparency. These glasses with high refractive index values can be utilized as optical materials.

Thermal, structural and optical properties of Bi2O3-Na2O-TiO2-ZnO-TeO2 glass system

W. L. Fong et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the glass stability of tellurite glasses decreases with increasing Bi2O3 content, attributed to the decomposition of TeO4 units, replacement of Te-O-Te bonds by Te-O-Bi bonds, and formation of Bi-O-Bi bonds. Additionally, an increase in Bi2O3 content resulted in a decrease in the optical band gap, indicating glasses with high polarizability suitable for optical and photonic applications.

Broadband mid-infrared emission in Dy3+/Er3+ co-doped tellurite glass

Yu Zhang et al.

Summary: Broadband mid-infrared luminescence was observed in Dy3+/Er3+ co-doped tellurite glasses. These glasses were prepared using traditional melt-quenching technique and their structural and thermal properties were analyzed. The optical properties were evaluated using Judd-Ofelt theory. The luminescence exhibited a wide range of emission located between 2550-3200 nm, derived from energy transfer between Dy3+ and Er3+ ions. The findings suggest potential applications in mid-infrared band luminescent sources and tunable lasers.
