λ/30 inorganic features achieved by multi-photon 3D lithography

Feng Jin et al.

Summary: In this study, the high-resolution fabrication of hydrogen silsesquioxane (HSQ) using femtosecond laser direct writing (FsLDW) was demonstrated. A feature size of 26 nm in HSQ was achieved using a 780 nm femtosecond laser. The HSQ microstructures fabricated by FsLDW showed nanoscale resolution, smooth surface, and high thermal stability, indicating potential application in the fabrication of micro-nano devices.

Dip-In Photoresist for Photoinhibited Two-Photon Lithography to Realize High-Precision Direct Laser Writing on Wafer

Chun Cao et al.

Summary: In this study, a refractive index matched photoresist with effective photoinhibition capacity was developed, enabling ultrahigh precision fabrication on wafer. The minimum critical dimension of 39 nm was successfully achieved on wafer through dip-in PI-TPL, paving the way for subdiffraction silicon-based chip manufacturing. Moreover, the combination of the developed photoresist and dip-in mode allows for the fabrication of tall and high-precision three-dimensional nanostructures.

High-Throughput Biofilm Assay to Investigate Bacterial Interactions with Surface Topographies

Sang Won Lee et al.

Summary: The specific topography of biomaterials is crucial for their interactions with cells and the safety of medical implants. Antifouling materials can be designed with topographic features to repel microbes, while undesired topographies of implants can cause complications. To guide the design of safer biomaterials and implants, a high-throughput microplate biofilm assay was developed to quantitatively assess bacterial adhesion to different topographic surface features. The results showed that surface area itself is not a good predictor for adhesion, while the size and spacing of topographic features play an important role.
