Stretchable array of CdSe/ZnS quantum-dot light emitting diodes for visual display of bio-signals

Yonghui Lee et al.

Summary: In this study, a stretchable QD-LED array was fabricated for displaying body movement and skin temperature signals from skin-attached sensors. The design minimized strain on the QD-LEDs by concentrating stress on the soft elastomer film substrate and Galinstan interconnections, resulting in stable operation under deformation. This work demonstrates the potential application of stretchable QD-LED arrays for easy and daily monitoring of health conditions through visual display.

Muhammad Amin Padhiar et al.

Summary: Perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) with adjustable emission bands and high photoluminescence are ideal for optical devices. This study introduces a simple strategy to enhance the stability of blue-light emitting PNCs, achieving highly stable PNCs with changes in bandgaps and PLQY values. The doped PNCs show potential for use as color converters in liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and demonstrate remarkable stability under various ambient conditions.

Visible light induced efficient photocatalytic degradation of azo dye into nontoxic byproducts by CdSe quantum dot conjugated nano graphene oxide

Sohel Das et al.

Summary: This study investigated the degradation of the azo dye Congo red (CR) under sunlight using a nanoconjugate of graphene oxide (nGO) and CdSe quantum dots (QD) as a nano-photocatalyst. The synthesized catalyst showed high efficiency at pH 7.0 and a degradation efficiency of over 90% within 60 minutes for 20 ppm and 100 ppm dye concentrations. The nanoconjugate exhibited high reusability and non-toxicity of photo-degraded by-products, making it a promising nano material for rapid degradation of CR dye.

The cytotoxicity of core-shell or non-shell structure quantum dots and reflection on environmental friendly: A review

Zhihui Wang et al.

Summary: Quantum dots are widely used in the bioindustry and research fields due to their excellent properties, but their toxicity should not be underestimated. The surface properties and size of quantum dots are critical factors in toxicity, with the core/shell structure being a common way to impact their activity. In addition to toxicity, the degradation of quantum dots in the environment has become a hot issue.

Fabrication of graphene: CdSe quantum dots/CdS nanorod heterojunction photodetector and role of graphene to enhance the photoresponsive characteristics

Chandrasekar Perumal Veeramalai et al.

Summary: The integration of graphene with semiconducting quantum dots (QDs) in high-performance optoelectronic devices is demonstrated in this article. The device based on graphene: CdSe QDs/CdS nanorod heterostructures shows excellent operating characteristics, including a maximum photoresponsivity and specific detectivity under 530 nm light illumination. The study also investigates the enhancement of performance in the heterojunction photodetector with graphene nanosheets, showing that enhanced energy transfer and exciton generation contribute to increased light absorption and photocurrent density.

Metal-Fungus interaction: Review on cellular processes underlying heavy metal detoxification and synthesis of metal nanoparticles

Eepsita Priyadarshini et al.

Summary: The adverse outcome of industrialization is the contamination of the ecosystem with toxic heavy metals. These metals negatively affect microbial systems, but microbes have developed resistance mechanisms such as biosorption, bioaccumulation, biotransformation, and efflux of metal ions. Fungal cells respond to metal exposure by forming metal nanoparticles, which can immobilize metals in less toxic forms. Understanding how fungi resist metal toxicity can lead to the development of techniques for detoxification and removal of metals from the environment.
