Economic foundations of generalized games with shared constraint: Do binding agreements lead to less Nash equilibria?

Yann Braouezec et al.

Summary: A generalized game involves interaction between agents through objective functions and strategy sets, with each agent's strategy set depending on the decisions of the other agents. Individual constraints are considered as the fundamental premises, and the shared constraint, a set K, is derived from individual constraints. An endogenous shared constraint, where each agent agrees to restrict their choices in K, can generate new Nash equilibria. The set of Nash equilibria in endogenous shared constraint includes the set of Nash equilibria in individual constraints. The study also examines non-classical games and presents economic applications in collective action problems. (c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
