Multi-level opportunistic predictive maintenance for multi-component systems with economic dependence and assembly/disassembly impacts

Duc-Hanh Dinh et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a multi-level opportunistic predictive maintenance approach that considers both economic and structural dependencies. By formulating the dependencies and introducing opportunistic thresholds, it effectively utilizes the relationships between components in maintenance decision-making.

Towards an online risk model for autonomous marine systems (AMS)

Ruochen Yang et al.

Summary: Considering the lack of direct human involvement in the operation of Autonomous Marine Systems (AMS), an online risk model is necessary to enhance the intelligence, situation awareness, and decision-making capabilities of AMS. This study identifies the criteria for evaluating an online risk model for AMS and examines the role of different risk analysis methods in fulfilling these criteria. The results suggest that Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) is a good basis for developing an online risk model, while Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Procedural Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP) can be used as complementary tools.

A condition-based maintenance policy for multi-component systems subject to stochastic and economic dependencies

Yukun Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a condition-based maintenance (CBM) optimization approach for complex systems. The decision rule at the system level determines whether preventive and/or corrective maintenance actions are needed based on the system's predictive reliability. At the component level, the optimal group of components for preventive maintenance is identified considering reliability improvement and maintenance cost.

Dynamic group-maintenance strategy for wind farms based on imperfect maintenance model

Jinhe Wang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a dynamic group-maintenance strategy based on the imperfect maintenance model for wind farms in severe geographical environments. The strategy takes into account the economic dependences among wind turbines and achieves the optimum solutions by balancing the cost savings and revenue loss.

A predictive maintenance model for k-out-of-n:F continuously deteriorating to stochastic and economic

K. T. Huynh et al.

Summary: In this paper, an innovative predictive maintenance model is developed for k-out-of-n:F continuously deteriorating systems, considering the stochastic dependency due to the common impact of working environment and the economic dependency issued by the set-up cost sharing. The model adopts a multivariate Gamma subordinator to describe the dependent degradation behavior among units in the context of maintenance modeling, and uses probabilistic measures of the remaining useful life as maintenance decision indices. The performance of the developed maintenance model is confirmed through various comparative studies and evaluation of the long-run cost rate of the maintenance policy using the semi-regenerative theory.

Group maintenance optimization of subsea Xmas trees with stochastic dependency

Dongming Fan et al.

Summary: This study proposes a group maintenance optimization approach for subsea Xmas trees, aiming to reduce maintenance costs and improve efficiency by combining maintenance activities. By introducing reduction factors and considering stochastic dependency, the optimal component-level PM intervals can be obtained, leading to a more reliable maintenance plan. Utilizing the collaborative particle swarm optimization algorithm, the cost of an optimal group maintenance plan can be minimized while maintaining availability, as illustrated by a case study on a Horizon Xmas tree with a 14-component system.

Risk assessment of the operations of maritime autonomous surface ships

Chia-Hsun Chang et al.

Summary: This study used FMEA, ER, and RBN methods to evaluate the major hazards and risks associated with Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), finding that 'interaction with manned vessels and detection of objects' posed the highest overall risk. Other key factors included 'cyber-attacks', 'human error', and 'equipment failure'. The findings provide valuable insights for enhancing the safety assurance of MASS.
