How does environmental regulation moderate the relationship between foreign direct investment and marine green economy efficiency: An empirical evidence from China's coastal areas

Hui Zheng et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the moderating effects of environmental regulations on the relationship between FDI and marine green economy efficiency in China's coastal areas. The results show that environmental regulation overall has a positive moderating effect, enhancing FDI's contribution to marine green economy efficiency. Different types of environmental regulations have heterogeneous moderating effects, with command-and-control and public-participation regulations having positive effects and economic-incentive regulation having a negative effect. Furthermore, these environmental regulations have significant positive spatial spillover effects on the marine green economy efficiency, promoting efficiency in surrounding areas.

Driving forces on the development of China's marine economy: Efficiency and spatial perspective

Jing Guo et al.

Summary: This paper measures the marine economic efficiency of 11 coastal areas in China and explores its temporal and spatial trends. The results show that economic development level, economic growth expectations, and the degree of openness have a significant positive impact on marine economic efficiency. However, optimizing the marine industry structure solely based on the share of tertiary industry has a negative effect on efficiency.

How do environmental regulation and technological innovation affect the sustainable development of marine economy: New evidence from China's coastal provinces and cities

Wenhan Ren et al.

Summary: As China's marine economy enters a new normal, it is necessary to change the development mode and growth momentum through exploring reasonable environmental regulation means and promoting green technological innovation. Empirical tests show that environmental regulation in China's coastal regions is still in the initial stage, which hinders the improvement of marine economy GTFP. Technological innovation plays an intermediary role between environmental regulation and GTFP, with significant room for improvement.

Analyzing the spatial-temporal characteristics of the marine economic efficiency of countries along the Maritime Silk Road and the influencing factors

Liangshi Zhao et al.

Summary: The 21st-century Maritime Silk Road initiative provides a new direction for the high-quality development of China and the marine economy along the route. The marine economic efficiency of countries along the MSR showed an overall upward trend from 2007 to 2017, with clear differences between developing and developed countries. Factors such as resource dependence, openness, economic development levels, and industrial structures have significant impacts on marine economic efficiency.

Influencing factors of farmers' adoption of pro-environmental agricultural technologies in China: Meta-analysis

Hualin Xie et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the adoption behavior of farmers towards pro-environmental agricultural technology through meta-analysis, finding that influencing factors are not completely homogeneous. Age, income, and land transfer have significant impacts on adoption, while factors like household size and village cadres have minimal influence. Policy design should consider various factors such as geographical differences, farmer needs, and costs.

Synergistic analysis of the resilience and efficiency of China's marine economy and the role of resilience policy

Wenchao Zhu et al.

Summary: The study shows that marine economic efficiency plays a leading role in the synergistic development of the system, but the effect of resilience becomes increasingly prominent with the improvement of China's marine economy quality. There are significant spatial and temporal differences in the synergistic evolution of marine economic resilience and efficiency, showing a trend towards multipolarization. It is necessary to establish a diversified industrial system to enhance economic resilience.

Xinyi Wei et al.

Summary: The study shows that upgrading the marine industrial structure can promote the growth of green total factor productivity (GTFP) of the marine economy, but caution must be taken to avoid falling into the efficiency trap of highly advanced technology input and low-efficiency technology output, as well as the impact of government intervention on GTFP growth in areas with different marine economic strengths.
