Prediction of synthesis cross sections of new moscovium isotopes in fusion-evaporation reactions

Peng-Hui Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, the synthesis mechanism of superheavy nuclides with atomic numbers Z=112, 114, 115 in the reactions of Ca-40,Ca-48 projectiles bombarding on U-238, Pu-242, and (243) Am targets has been systematically investigated within a wide range of incident energy. Calculated synthesis cross-sections were found to depend on collision orientations, and the dependence of total kinetic energy (TKE) on incident energies was discussed. The method based on the Coulomb barrier distribution function was used for the calculations, resulting in good agreement with experimental data. The isospin effect of projectiles and the influence of entrance channel effect on synthesis cross-sections were also discussed. The synthesis cross-sections of new moscovium isotopes 278-286Mc were predicted to be large in fusion-evaporation reactions at some typical excitation energies.

Optimization of flexible square cascade for high separation of stable isotopes using enhanced PSO algorithm

Sajad Khooshechin et al.

Summary: The optimal parameters for the separation of multicomponent isotopes using a flexible square cascade have been calculated in this paper. A new code called MCSQCA-PSO was developed to find the optimal solution, maximizing product recovery and increasing the D function as objective functions. The results show that the recovery coefficient increases nonlinearly with the number of stages, with the cascade of 50 stages providing the highest amount of product.

Study on the production characteristics of 131I and 90Sr isotopes in a molten salt reactor

Liang Chen et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the production characteristics of Sr-90 and I-131 in a modular molten salt reactor, finding that the yields of I-131 and Te-131 increase during operation, while the yields of Sr-90 and Kr-90 decrease gradually.
