Rigid versus flexible neuroendoscopy: a systematic review and meta-analysis of endoscopic third ventriculostomy for the management of pediatric hydrocephalus

Daphne Li et al.

Summary: Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV), with or without choroid plexus cauterization (+/- CPC), is a commonly used technique for pediatric hydrocephalus treatment. This study compared rigid and flexible neuroendoscopy for ETV in pediatric patients, finding that despite differences in patient age and predicted ETV success scores, the ETV success and complication rates were similar between the two techniques. Further direct comparison between rigid and flexible endoscopy for ETV is needed.
