Chlorine anion stabilized Cu2O/ZnO photocathode for selective CO2 reduction to CH4

Si -Tong Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, a chlorine (Cl)-modified Cu2O/ZnO heterostructure photocathode (CCZO) with high CH4 faradaic efficiency (88.6%) and durability (over 5 h) is presented. The Cl ions in CCZO stabilize Cu2O against photo-corrosion and promote the hydrogenation of *CO intermediate, leading to the selective reduction of CO2 to CH4. The catalytic mechanism of CCZO in modulating the energy barrier of intermediate *CO combined with H+ is elucidated, providing a new idea for developing high selectivity and stable catalysts for CO2 reduction.

Unraveling the phonon scattering mechanism in exfoliated MoSe2 nanosheets using temperature-dependent Raman spectroscopy

Rahul et al.

Summary: The liquid exfoliation method was used to prepare MoSe2 nanosheets on silicon substrates, and the vibrational characteristics of MoSe2 nanosheets were investigated using Raman measurements. The results showed that increasing temperature caused a redshift in Raman modes and non-linear temperature dependence was observed. Analytical results indicated that three- and four-phonon anharmonic effects were responsible for the non-linear temperature dependence of Raman modes.

2D-Heterostructure assisted activation of MoS2 basal plane for enhanced photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction

Krishnendu Roy et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the activation of the basal plane of MoS2 by heterostructuring with 2D MoSe2 for enhanced photoelectrochemical HER. The MoS2/MoSe2 heterostructure exhibits higher photocurrent density, incident photon-to-current efficiency, and H2 evolution rate compared to pristine MoS2. Theoretical calculations support these experimental findings.

Structural and optical characteristics of silicon nanowires prepared by the Ag-assisted chemical etching method

Ahlem Rouis et al.

Summary: Research on silicon nanowires has shown that longer nanowires can improve the optical working of the nanostructures, potentially making them a candidate for high efficiency photovoltaic solar cells. Silicon nanowires developed via metal-assisted chemical etching method have higher intensity than the substrate, with the intensity increasing with longer etching times. The total reflectance of silicon nanowires reduced to less than 5% over the entire visible range, indicating their potential for higher absorbance in the visible wavelength range.
