SENTINEL LYMPH NODE IDENTIFICATION IN PATIENTS WITH BREAST CANCER USING LYMPHOSONOGRAPHY

Priscilla Machado et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of lymphosonography in identifying sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) in patients with breast cancer undergoing surgical excision. The results showed that lymphosonography was similar in accuracy to radioactive tracer and higher than blue dye in identifying SLNs. Furthermore, lymphosonography accurately detected all malignant SLNs. Rating: 8 out of 10.

Pretherapy Ferumoxytol-enhanced MRI to Predict Response to Liposomal Irinotecan in Metastatic Breast Cancer

Harshan Ravi et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of ferumoxytol (FMX)-enhanced MRI as a pretreatment predictor of response to liposomal irinotecan (nal-IRI) for metastatic breast cancer (mBC) patients. The results showed that FMX-enhanced MRI biologic markers can be used to predict the response to nal-IRI treatment in mBC patients.

PET-CT Imaging of Polymeric Nanoparticle Tumor Accumulation in Patients

Iris H. C. Miedema et al.

Summary: FDA/EMA-approved nanomedicines have shown improved pharmacokinetics and toxicity profiles compared to conventional chemotherapeutic drugs. However, the effectiveness of these nanomedicines in treating tumors is highly dependent on tumor accumulation, which can vary greatly. This study utilized PET/CT imaging to evaluate the tumor accumulation of a docetaxel-entrapping polymeric nanoparticle and found that a diagnostic dose accurately reflected the accumulation during treatment, which could potentially aid in patient stratification in cancer nanomedicine.

Use of Ultrasmall Core-Shell Fluorescent Silica Nanoparticles for Image-Guided Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Head and Neck Melanoma A Nonrandomized Clinical Trial

Daniella Karassawa Zanoni et al.

Summary: This nonrandomized clinical trial evaluates whether an ultrasmall, molecularly targeted core-shell silica nanoparticle can safely and reliably identify optically avid SLNs in head and neck melanoma during fluorescence-guided biopsy. The study found that nanoparticle-based fluorescence-guided SLN biopsy in head and neck melanoma was feasible and safe, offering promise for improving lymphatic mapping and SLN biopsy procedures.
