Construction of high stability indium gallium zinc oxide transistor biosensors for reliable detection of bladder cancer-associated microRNA

Jing Guo et al.

Summary: Bladder cancer is a common malignant tumor with high morbidity, mortality, and recurrence. However, the detection of bladder cancer-associated urine biomarkers is challenging due to their low abundance. In this study, a reliable indium gallium zinc oxide field effect transistor (IGZO FET) biosensor was developed for the detection of bladder cancer-related microRNA biomarkers. The biosensor exhibited high sensitivity, stability, and a remarkably low detection limit. It could effectively differentiate bladder cancer patients from healthy individuals in urine samples. The development of high-performance IGZO FET biosensors offers new opportunities for early-stage diagnosis of bladder cancer.

Covalent Chemistry-Mediated Multimarker Purification of Circulating Tumor Cells Enables Noninvasive Detection of Molecular Signatures of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Na Sun et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the feasibility of purifying hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with improved molecular integrity using Click Chips and a multimarker antibody cocktail. The purified CTCs are then analyzed for messenger RNA profiling targeting 64 HCC-specific genes, showing high concordance with HCC tissue-derived gene signatures. This suggests that HCC CTCs purified by Click Chips can facilitate the translation of HCC tissue molecular profiling into a noninvasive setting.

Genetic Characterization of Cancer of Unknown Primary Using Liquid Biopsy Approaches

Noemi Laprovitera et al.

Summary: Cancers of unknown primary (CUP) are rare metastatic tumors where targeted therapies could be proposed based on potentially druggable alterations in the CUP genome. Non-invasive liquid biopsy testing using circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is feasible to identify actionable mutations in CUP cases with broad NGS panels.
