Surface and Interface Coordination Chemistry Learned from Model Heterogeneous Metal Nanocatalysts: From Atomically Dispersed Catalysts to Atomically Precise Clusters

Wentong Jing et al.

Summary: The surface and interface coordination structures of heterogeneous metal catalysts play a crucial role in their catalytic performance. However, the complex structures make it challenging to identify the molecular level structure of active sites and control their performance precisely. Atomically dispersed metal catalysts (ADMCs) and ligand-protected atomically precise metal clusters (APMCs) have emerged as important model heterogeneous catalysts, bridging the gap between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. This review explores how the surface and interface coordination chemistry of these model catalysts determine catalytic performance from various perspectives.

Hetero-Shelled Hollow Structure Coupled with Non-Thermal Plasma Inducing Spatial Charge Rearrangement for Superior NO Conversion and Sulfur Resistance

Yujie Liao et al.

Summary: Mass transfer and spatial charge separation pose significant challenges for efficient oxidation of NO and resistance to sulfur. In this study, a hydrothermal-assisted confinement growth technique was used to fabricate three-dimensional CuOx@MnOx hetero-shelled hollow-structure catalysts. By combining the plasma space reactor and porous hierarchical structure, high stability and conversion of NO were achieved under high concentrations of SO2 and NO. Surface characterization and theoretical calculations showed that the hetero-shelled micro-reactor facilitated the transportation of redox pairs and prevented the poisoning of SO2 molecules.
