Imaging dynamic exciton interactions and coupling in transition metal dichalcogenides

Torben L. Purz et al.

Summary: TMDs are considered as a potential material platform for quantum information science, and multi-dimensional coherent imaging spectroscopy sheds light on the underlying physics for both MoSe2 monolayers and MoSe2/WSe2 heterostructures. The study identifies promising and unfavorable areas for quantum information applications, highlighting the importance of robustness in coherent and incoherent coupling for device applications. The presence of strain and dielectric environment changes does not significantly affect the interlayer exciton lifetimes, supporting TMDs as a next-generation material platform in quantum information science and beyond.

Summary: This study investigates the optical effects of Chiral Weyl fermions in the Weyl semimetal TaIrTe4 using near-field photocurrent imaging. The analysis of nano-photocurrent maps successfully distinguishes surface- and bulk-related nonlinear contributions, providing evidence for the presence of surface states.

Enhanced tunable second harmonic generation from twistable interfaces and vertical superlattices in boron nitride homostructures

Kaiyuan Yao et al.

Summary: Broken symmetries in materials and interfaces lead to strong even-order nonlinear optical responses. Van der Waals heterostructures allow for control over symmetry at crystal interfaces. Our study demonstrates highly tunable second harmonic generation and polarization patterns in twistable vdW systems, paving the way for efficient frequency conversion architectures.

Broadband Plasmon-Enhanced Four-Wave Mixing in Monolayer MoS2

Yunyun Dai et al.

Summary: The study reports broadband enhancement of optical nonlinearity in monolayer MoS2 with plasmonic structures, demonstrating significantly enhanced four-wave mixing with an equivalent third-order nonlinearity in the order of 10(-17) m(2)/V-2. The enhancement factor is up to three orders of magnitude, showing promising potential for nonlinear photonic applications.
