eROSITA study of the globular cluster 47 Tucanae

Sara Saeedi et al.

Summary: The study presents the analysis of observations of the globular cluster 47 Tucanae using eROSITA on board the Spektrum-Roentgen-Gamma (SRG). The results reveal the presence of various types of X-ray sources in the cluster, including active galactic nuclei, foreground stars, and specific members of the 47 Tuc cluster. No significant population belonging to the cluster is observed within a specific energy range.

A census of X-ray millisecond pulsars in globular clusters

Jiaqi Zhao et al.

Summary: We conducted a comprehensive census of X-ray millisecond pulsars (MSPs) in 29 Galactic globular clusters (GCs), finding a large number of MSPs with different luminosities. They can be divided into redback pulsars and black widows. By estimating the correlation between the number of MSPs and stellar encounter rate in 36 GCs, we suggest that between 600 and 1500 MSPs exist in these clusters. We also estimated the number of X-ray detectable MSPs in the Galactic bulge.

Searching for quasi-periodic oscillations in active galactic nuclei of the Chandra Deep Field South

Tong Bao et al.

Summary: Recent X-ray observations have found growing evidence of quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO) in the light curve of active galactic nuclei (AGNs), providing useful insight into black hole physics. This study systematically searched for X-ray QPOs among approximately 1000 AGNs in the Chandra Deep Field South (CDF-S), but no statistically significant periodic signals were detected. Extensive simulations suggest that the non-detection may be due to the moderate sensitivity of the CDF-S data in QPO detection. However, two candidate short-lived QPOs were found in a subset of observations.

The eROSITA X-ray telescope on SRG

P. Predehl et al.

Summary: eROSITA is the primary instrument on the SRG mission, conducting a comprehensive all-sky survey to study the large-scale structure of the universe, including galaxy clusters and Dark Energy. The survey is expected to revolutionize our understanding of the evolution of supermassive black holes and provide new insights into various astrophysical phenomena. Early observations confirm that the instrument's performance meets its scientific promise.

On the vanishing orbital X-ray variability of the eclipsing binary millisecond pulsar 47 Tuc W

P. R. Hebbar et al.

Summary: Research on redback millisecond pulsars (MSPs) indicates significant orbital variability in their X-ray emission, with some potentially transitioning from a radio pulsar state to an accretion-powered state. Analysis of X-ray spectra components and instrument sensitivities suggests intrinsic changes in the intrabinary shock (IBS) of the system.

Dynamical modelling of CXOGBS J175553.2-281633: a 10 h long orbital period cataclysmic variable

Sebastian Gomez et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the long-term optical light and radial velocity curves of the binary stellar system CXOGBS J175553.2-281633, identifying it as a long orbital period cataclysmic variable star containing a white dwarf accretor and an evolved secondary donor star. The sinusoidal shape of the phased light curve and the ellipsoidal modulations suggest variations in the luminosity of the accretion disc or a spotted secondary star. With improved orbital parameters derived from light-curve synthesis and spectral analysis, the study provides insights into the characteristics of this binary system.
