Combining Planck and SPT Cluster Catalogs: Cosmological Analysis and Impact on the Planck Scaling Relation Calibration

L. Salvati et al.

Summary: We provide the first combined cosmological analysis of the South Pole Telescope and Planck cluster catalogs, aiming to calibrate the Planck scaling relations independently. The results show deviations from self-similar evolution in both mass slope and mass bias, which are mainly driven by the matter density value preferred by the South Pole Telescope data.

PSZSPT: A joint and SPT-SZ cluster catalog

J. -B. Melin et al.

Summary: This study presents the first cluster catalog extracted from combined space-based and ground-based millimeter data using a matched multi-filter (MMF), which produces consistent results with individual datasets from Planck and SPT collaborations. The research demonstrates Planck's effectiveness in detecting clusters at low redshifts and SPT's efficiency in finding higher redshift sources.

The Atacama Cosmology Telescope: A Catalog of >4000 Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Galaxy Clusters

M. Hilton et al.

Summary: This study presents a catalog of 4195 optically confirmed Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) selected galaxy clusters detected by the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT) in 13,211 deg(2) of sky. The clusters were selected using a multifrequency matched filter on 98 and 150 GHz maps and confirmed with deep, wide-area optical surveys. The clusters span a wide range of redshifts and include new discoveries, providing a valuable resource for future cosmological analyses and studying the evolution of galaxies in massive clusters.

Understanding matched filters for precision cosmology

Inigo Zubeldia et al.

Summary: Matched filters are commonly used in cosmology to detect galaxy clusters through their thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich signature. This study shows that the observable signal-to-noise is generally non-Gaussian and suffers from an optimization bias. Monte Carlo mock observations indicate that the signal-to-noise can be well-described by a unit-variance Gaussian for values of 6 and above, with a quantified magnitude of the optimization bias provided for practical use.
