Molecularly imprinted polypyrrole nanotubes based electrochemical sensor for glyphosate detection

Shichao Ding et al.

Summary: An electrochemical sensor based on molecularly imprinted polypyrrole nanotubes has been developed for the detection of glyphosate with high sensitivity and specificity. The sensor demonstrates a wide detection range, low limit of detection, excellent stability, reproducibility, and selectivity against interferents. The sensor's practicality has been verified by detecting glyphosate in orange juice and rice beverages, making it suitable for monitoring pesticides in actual food and environmental samples.

Electrochemical detection of fenitrothion usingnanosilver/dodecane modified glassy carbon electrode

A. Kumaravel et al.

Summary: A novel nanosilver/dodecane modified electrode was developed for the electrochemical sensing of fenitrothion in environmental samples such as potatoes and paddy, showing lower reduction potential and higher sensing current. The electrode demonstrated excellent stability and constant sensitivity over multiple cycles of analysis, with a lower limit of detection compared to other electrodes. The results obtained using the electrochemical approach were in good agreement with those from the HPLC technique. The modified electrode presents a cost-effective alternative for detecting fenitrothion pesticides.

Androgenic activation, impairment of the monoaminergic system and altered behavior in zebrafish larvae exposed to environmental concentrations of fenitrothion

Melissa Faria et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that exposure to environmental concentrations of Fenitrothion can induce neurotoxic effects in zebrafish larvae, impacting their basal locomotor activity, visual-motor response, and acoustic/vibrational escape response. Significant non-monotonic concentration-response relationships were observed for Fenitrothion and the expression of certain genes. Furthermore, potential protein targets of Fenitrothion were identified, with interactions with acetylcholinesterase, monoamine-oxidases, and androgen receptor being experimentally validated, suggesting an environmental risk for fish communities.

Summary: The experiment revealed that fenitrothion induced significantly higher prevalence and severity of erythrocytic nuclear abnormalities and erythrocytic cellular abnormalities in zebrafish. However, post-exposure recuperation showed spontaneous recovery of abnormalities in all treatments, indicating the potential for detecting aquatic animals' sensitivity to environmental pollution.
