Fe3O4-Halloysite Nanotube Composites as Sustainable Adsorbents: Efficiency in Ofloxacin Removal from Polluted Waters and Ecotoxicity

Doretta Capsoni et al.

Summary: This study aimed to decorate halloysite nanotubes (HNT) with magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles using different synthetic routes and to test their efficiency in removing the antibiotic ofloxacin (OFL) from water. The results showed that the magnetic composites were successfully obtained and had different adsorption capacities for OFL. The three HNT/Fe3O4 composites were able to remove OFL from water under realistic conditions, and no acute toxicity was observed on freshwater organisms. The sample prepared by co-precipitation was found to be the most performant in terms of magnetic separation, stability, and cost-effectiveness.

Chitosan as Valuable Excipient for Oral and Topical Carvedilol Delivery Systems

Szymon Sip et al.

Summary: Chitosan is a valuable excipient for enhancing solubility of poorly water-soluble drugs, and in this study, binary combinations of chitosan with carvedilol were prepared to develop a formulation with modified drug release profile. The research involved physical mixing and analysis through various methods, and the results indicated significant potential of using chitosan as an excipient in modern drug delivery systems.

The relation between nanotube diameter, length and surface area and pore volume of multi-walled spiral halloysite nanotubes: A theoretical study

Tianyu Liu et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the loading capacity of Hal by constructing its atomic structure and found that the loading ability of Hal varies in different deposits, possibly due to blockage of the lumen space. By removing lumen impurities, the loading ability of HNTs can potentially be restored to their theoretical limits.
