Reverse vaccinology approach for multi-epitope centered vaccine design against delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2

Khurshid Jalal et al.

Summary: This study utilized a computational reverse vaccinology approach to construct a multi-epitope vaccine against the spike protein of the delta variant, which could induce an immune response against COVID-19 infection. Non-toxic, highly conserved, non-allergenic, and highly antigenic B-cell, HTL, and CTL epitopes were identified for the development of chimeric vaccines. In silico evaluation showed that the designed chimeric vaccine could elicit an immune response.

Summary: Despite the lack of effective treatment for SARS-CoV-2 infection, vaccination is considered the ultimate solution for controlling the COVID-19 pandemic. This study evaluated the potency and protection of three candidate vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 using adenoviral vectors. The results showed significant immune responses and reduced viral titers in animal models, suggesting the safety and efficacy of these vaccines.

Summary: In this study, a trivalent vaccine model that can activate cytotoxic T cells was designed and constructed based on the prediction of potential T cell epitopes. The validation experiments showed significant increases in white blood cell and lymphocyte counts, as well as the concentration of granzyme B and IgG in serum.

Extensive immunoinformatics study for the prediction of novel peptide-based epitope vaccine with docking confirmation against envelope protein of Chikungunya virus: a computational biology approach

Syed Shahariar Bappy et al.

Summary: This study focused on designing a peptide-based epitope vaccine against CHIKV using immunoinformatics and docking tools. Two potential immunogenic envelope glycoprotein sequences were identified, interacting with HLA molecules with low IC50 scores and showing high conservancy in endemic countries. The identified peptides have great potential for vaccine development and further validation through antigen testing, production, and clinical trials is needed.

In silico analysis of epitope-based vaccine candidate against tuberculosis using reverse vaccinology

Shaheen Bibi et al.

Summary: The researchers developed a universal TB vaccine using advanced computational techniques. They selected conserved and experimentally confirmed Mtb antigens to design a novel multi-epitope subunit vaccine, and predicted different B-cell and T-cell epitopes. A promising candidate for a tuberculosis vaccine, the vaccine may activate humoral and cellular immune responses, but further experimental validations are needed.

Control of Spontaneous HPV16 E6/E7 Expressing Oral Cancer in HLA-A2 (AAD) Transgenic Mice with Therapeutic HPV DNA Vaccine

Ssu-Hsueh Tseng et al.

Summary: The study characterized the immune responses of HLA-A2 restricted HPV16 E7-specific CD8 + T cells using a therapeutic naked DNA vaccine in transgenic mice. Spontaneous oral tumors were generated by transfecting oncogenic DNA plasmids into the submucosal oral cavity of the transgenic mice with electroporation. Treatment with the CRT/E7(N53S) DNA vaccine resulted in significant antitumor effects against the spontaneous HPV16 E6/E7-expressing oral tumors in HLA-A2 (AAD) transgenic mice.
