Normal vibrations and vibrational spectra of trithiocyanuric acid in its natural, deuterated, anionic and metal coordinated forms

Piotr Drozdzewski et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the spectroscopic properties of trithiocyanuric acid (ttcH(3)) in its natural, anionic and deutered forms using FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy. A trinuclear nickel(II) complex with anionic, hexadentate ligand (ttc(3-)) is synthesized and its band assignments are performed based on computational results and comparison to a previously discussed ttc(3-) anion. Neutralizing ttcH(3) acid to obtain the ttc(3-) anion results in shifts in vibrational spectra, particularly in the characteristic symmetric nu(Ni-S) stretching vibrations band. The experimental data are supported by DFT calculations and PED analysis, which highlights the importance of interpreting the spectra based on the obtained complex rather than literature data.

Mechanistic insight into photochemical and photoelectrochemical degradation of organic pollutants with the use of BiVO4 and BiVO4/Co-Pi

Tomasz Lecki et al.

Summary: In this work, the roles of hydroxyl radicals, superoxide anion radicals, and holes in the photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants on BiVO4 were clarified. Different mechanisms reported in the literature were critically discussed. The experimental results showed that modification of the BiVO4 surface and application of an external potential can significantly enhance the degradation rate of caffeine.

Enhanced pyrocatalysis of the pyroelectric BiFeO3/g-C3N4 heterostructure for dye decomposition driven by cold-hot temperature alternation

Mingzi Chen et al.

Summary: The BiFeO3/g-C3N4 heterostructure catalyst, fabricated via a simple mixing-calcining method, shows significantly enhanced catalytic performance in degrading dye wastewater. By optimizing the content of g-C3N4, the decomposition efficiency of dyes can be improved, with the internal electric field generated during the catalytic reaction helping to enhance the separation and migration of charge carriers for accelerated dye decomposition.
