Response of murine gut microbiota to a prebiotic based on oligosaccharides derived via hydrolysis of fungal ?-(1?3)-D-glucan: Preclinical trial study on mice

Ewa Sajnaga et al.

Summary: We examined the effect of alpha-(1 -> 3)-glucooligosaccharides (GOS) on gut microbiota composition. Mice were fed with GOS-supplemented diet for 21 days and fecal samples were collected at different time points. The results showed significant changes in the taxonomic composition of gut microbiota in GOS-supplemented mice, with an increase in Prevotella spp. and a decrease in Escherichia-Shigella. GOS appears to be a promising new prebiotic candidate.

NK cell-based cancer immunotherapy: from basic biology to clinical development

Sizhe Liu et al.

Summary: NK cells, as a specialized immune effector cell type, play a critical role in immune activation against abnormal cells. Unlike T cell activation, NK cell activation is governed by interactions between NK receptors and target cells, leading to significant attention in cancer immunotherapy. Many efforts are focused on developing and engineering NK cell-based cancer immunotherapy.

Impact of phytochemicals and plant extracts on viability and proliferation of NK cell line NK-92-a closer look at immunomodulatory properties of goji berries extract in human colon cancer cells

Paulina Kwasnik et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the influence of phytochemicals and plant extracts on the viability, proliferation, and cytotoxic activity of NK cells against colon cancer. Results showed that goji berries extract positively affected NK cell proliferation, while resveratrol significantly increased cell viability. The study highlighted the immunomodulatory properties of goji berries extract in enhancing NK cell activities against colon cancer cells.
