Spontaneous intra-electron transfer within rGO@Fe2O3-MnO catalyst promotes long-term NOx reduction at ambient conditions

Hafiz Muhammad Adeel Sharif et al.

Summary: In this study, a self-sustainable material is designed to regenerate iron-based catalysts for long-term reusability. By impregnating Fe2O3-MnO on reduced graphene oxide, the catalyst achieves spontaneous electron transfer from Mn to Fe, resulting in higher catalytic activity. The prepared catalyst shows great potential for large-scale applications as it maintains high efficiency even in the presence of high oxygen contents.

Quantitatively evaluating activity and number of catalytic sites on metal oxide for ammonium perchlorate decomposition

Lin-Yu Zhou et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new method to quantitatively evaluate the catalytic capability of metal oxides in ammonium perchlorate (AP) catalytic thermal decomposition. By introducing two indicators, the activity and number of catalyst sites can be decoupled, and the feasibility of this method is demonstrated through experiments using hematite nanostructures as model catalysts.

Effect of Bi2WO6/g-C3N4 composite on the combustion and catalytic decomposition of energetic materials: An efficient catalyst with g-C3N4 carrier

Jingjing Wang et al.

Summary: This study prepared a Bi2WO6/g-C3N4 composite as a combustion catalyst for solid propellants using a one-step in situ hydrothermal method. The results showed that the Bi2WO6/g-C3N4 composite could decrease the decomposition temperatures and apparent activation energies of several energetic materials, and effectively promote the ignition performance of certain energetic materials. The g-C3N4 catalyst carrier, with its advantages of low cost, simple synthesis process, improved combustion and catalytic performances, as well as high N content, has broad engineering application prospects.

Combustion characteristic and aging behavior of bimetal thermite powders

Hong-qi Nie et al.

Summary: In this study, bimetal thermite powders were produced by investigating combustion characteristic and aging behavior of aluminum/iron oxide nanothermite mixtures in the presence of micron-scale nickel. The results showed that the inclusion of nickel led to a higher alumina content and finer particle sizes in the combustion residue, indicating more complete combustion and reduced agglomeration. Moreover, the nanothermite mixtures containing nickel demonstrated better aging resistance with less reduction in heat of combustion compared to those without nickel.

Unexpected enhanced reactivity of aluminized nanothermites by accelerated aging

Summary: The study of aging processes in powdered nanothermites reveals the high complexity, as it not only leads to a consumption of the heat reservoir, but also results in a modification of the Al/oxidizer interface morphology and chemistry. The annealing experiments show that Al/CuO and Al/Fe2O3 thermites exhibit increased reaction and pressurization rates after annealing at 200 degrees C in air and 400 degrees C in argon, while the same nanothermites annealed at 400 degrees C in air feature reduced reactivity due to over-oxidations of the aluminum core and the formation of crystalline alumina shell.
