Orengedokuto exerts anti-allergic effects via inhibition of effector T cell activation in a murine model of contact hypersensitivity

Atsushi Tsuge et al.

Summary: The study suggests that Orengedokuto (OGT) exerts anti-allergic effects by regulating the activation of effector T cells involved in inflammatory skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, rather than inducing or activating regulatory T cells.

Isolation of Mirificin and Other Bioactive Isoflavone Glycosides from the Kudzu Root Lyophilisate Using Centrifugal Partition and Flash Chromatographic Techniques

Magdalena Maciejewska-Turska et al.

Summary: Pueraria lobata is a legume plant native to Southeast Asia, widely used in traditional medicine. This study developed an original preparative method to efficiently isolate hydrophilic daidzein C-glycosides, including mirificin, from kudzu roots. The isolated mirificin showed a purity of 63% and exhibited significant anti-biodegenerative effects.

Pharmacokinetic study of traditional Japanese Kampo medicine shimotsuto used to treat gynecological diseases in rats

Mikina Takiyama et al.

Summary: In this study, LC-MS/MS analysis revealed that catalpol and 8-debenzoylpaeoniflorin showed the highest concentrations in rat plasma after oral administration of shimotsuto. Additionally, nontargeted LC-MS/MS analysis identified bergapten and 8-debenzoylpaeoniflorin as extensively blood-absorbed ingredients of shimotsuto following administration of constituent crude drugs. These pharmacokinetic studies suggest that all nine ingredients are absorbed into the blood and may contribute to the pharmacological actions of shimotsuto.

Metabolic Profiling of Carbonyl Compounds for Unveiling Protective Mechanisms of Pueraria lobata against Diabetic Nephropathy by UPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS/MS Analysis

Zhi-Tong Zhang et al.

Summary: The research found that Pueraria lobata extracts containing a total of 73 identified compounds could ameliorate kidney injury and regulate abnormal glycolipid metabolism. In metabolomics analysis, 19 carbonyl compounds with significant differences were identified between DN mice and normal mice, while 12 metabolites had a tendency to return to normal levels after PL treatment. Overall, Pueraria lobata exerts beneficial effects on DN by regulating abnormal glycolipid metabolism and carbonyl stress, and endogenous carbonyl compounds might serve as potential biomarkers for DN.
