Experimental and theoretical insights into the photomagnetic effects in trinuclear and ionic Cu(II)-Mo(IV) systems

TingYun Pai et al.

Summary: The crystal engineering of octacyanidomolybdate(IV) ions and copper(II) complexes with different chelating ligands resulted in the formation of four compounds. The presence of Mo(v) to Cu(s) charge transfer bands in trinuclear molecules was confirmed through UV-Vis-NIR absorption spectroscopy. The photomagnetic effect was observed in some compounds.

An electron-deficient supramolecular macrocyclic host for the selective separation of aromatics and cyclic aliphatics

Fei Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, we synthesized a compound 1 with an electron-deficient cavity and successfully used it as a gas chromatographic stationary phase for the separation of benzene/cyclohexane and toluene/methylcyclohexane. The prepared packed column showed advantages in terms of easy preparation, short column length, low separation temperature, and short retention time.

New Photomagnetic Ionic Salts Based on [MoIV(CN)8]4- and [WIV(CN)8]4- Anions

Xinghui Qi et al.

Summary: Three new ionic salts with [M(CN)(8)](4-) (M = Mo-IV and W-IV) were prepared using large complex cations based on a non-conventional motif. The crystal structures of these compounds show relatively isolated anionic and cationic entities. These compounds exhibit significant photomagnetic effects when irradiated with blue light at low temperatures.

Room-Temperature Bistability in a Ni-Fe Chain: Electron Transfer Controlled by Temperature, Pressure, Light, and Humidity

Mateusz Reczynski et al.

Summary: The molecule chain exhibits a unique multiresponsive behavior to stimuli such as temperature, pressure, light, and humidity, leading to significant changes in magnetic susceptibility and color. This stimuli-responsive material can switch between two valence states and show thermal hysteresis at room temperature, as well as sensitivity to pressure and irradiation.

Spin crossover phenomenon in a three-dimensional cyanido-bridged FeII-MoIV assembly

Shintaro Kawabata et al.

Summary: A spin crossover material based on a cyanido-bridged Fe-II-Mo-IV assembly exhibits incomplete spin crossover with a unique molecular arrangement due to elastic frustration between high-spin and low-spin Fe-II sites. Thermal hysteresis is not observed in this compound with a cubic crystal structure.

Second harmonic generation on chiral cyanido-bridged FeII-NbIV spin-crossover complexes

Shintaro Kawabata et al.

Summary: By incorporating chiral organic ligands into cyanido-bridged Fe-II-Nb-IV assemblies, chiral spin-crossover complexes with non-centrosymmetric structure and second harmonic generation capability were successfully synthesized. All complexes exhibit spin crossover between high-spin and low-spin Fe-II states without thermal hysteresis. Chiral complexes of R-FeNb and S-FeNb demonstrate second harmonic generation due to their non-centrosymmetric structure.

Evidence of protonation induced intra-molecular metal-to-metal charge transfer in a highly symmetric cyanido bridged {Fe2Ni2} molecular square

Prashurya Pritam Mudoi et al.

Summary: The study explores the induction of intra-molecular metal-to-metal charge transfer in a cyanido bridged tetranuclear square shaped {Fe2Ni2} complex by using protonation as an external stimulant. Two cyanido bridged square shaped tetranuclear complexes exhibit reversible intra-molecular metal-to-metal electron transfer upon the addition of either an acid or a base, indicating potential applications in functional materials.
