Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Benzo[b]thiophene Acylhydrazones as Antimicrobial Agents against Multidrug-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Thibaut Barbier et al.

Summary: In this study, new series of compounds were synthesized by combining the benzo[b]thiophene nucleus and the acylhydrazone functional group for screening against Staphylococcus aureus. Among the compounds tested, (E)-6-chloro-N'-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)benzo[b]thiophene-2-carbohydrazide (II.b) showed promising antimicrobial activity with a minimal inhibitory concentration of 4 μg/mL against S. aureus strains, including clinically isolated strains resistant to methicillin and daptomycin.

Exploration of the inhibitory mechanism of PC190723 on FtsZ protein by molecular dynamics simulation

Yangchun Ma et al.

Summary: The study showed that PC190723 can increase the conformational stability of FtsZ protein, thereby disrupting the normal process of bacterial division. In particular, PC190723 enhances the interaction of residues S8-sheet in FtsZ protein, promoting the formation of protofilament.

Thibaut Barbier et al.

Summary: In this study, five series of heterocyclic tripartite 2,6-difluorobenzamides were synthesized to investigate the influence of the nature of the heterocyclic central scaffold on the biological activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Among the compounds, II.c showed low minimum inhibitory concentration and exhibited no cytotoxicity against human cells.

The modulatory role of sulfated and non-sulfated small molecule heparan sulfate-glycomimetics in endothelial dysfunction: absolute structural clarification, molecular docking and simulated dynamics, SAR analyses and ADMET studies

Daniel M. Gill et al.

Summary: This study optimized the synthesis of 17 small molecule glycomimetics, clarified the absolute stereochemical configurations of C1-4, and investigated the role and importance of sulfation on the modulation of endothelial dysfunction. In vitro studies demonstrated the modulatory effects of sulfated glycomimetics on endothelial dysfunction through their interaction with HGF.
