Pressure broadening in Raman spectra of CH4-N2, CH4-CO2, and CH4-C2H6 gas mixtures

Aleksandr S. Tanichev et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mutual influence of CH4-N2, CH4-CO2, and CH4-C2H6 on their characteristic Raman bands. The half-width and asymmetry of the Q branches of N2, CO2, and C2H6 as a function of methane concentration were measured. Results obtained from a high-sensitivity spectrometer with a resolution of 0.5 cm^-1 based on spontaneous Raman scattering provided reliable data. An algorithm and the necessary parameters for simulating the effect of various molecular environments on the Raman bands of the main components of natural gas are presented.

Raman Natural Gas Analyzer: Effects of Composition on Measurement Precision

Dmitry V. Petrov et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the application of Raman spectroscopy in analyzing natural gas. The experimental results show that Raman gas analyzers can accurately measure samples with varying concentrations without frequent calibrations. Additionally, the study found that changes in gas composition can affect the spectral lines of methane, resulting in measurement errors in oxygen concentration.

Summary: This paper discusses a technique for deriving carbon monoxide intensity in Raman spectra by fitting nitrogen spectrum at various temperatures. It is found that ignoring the Herman-Wallis factors in the fitting procedure leads to an additional measurement error, especially at high temperatures.

Summary: Power-to-gas is a heavily discussed option for storing surplus electricity from renewable sources by feeding generated hydrogen into the gas grid. Frequent monitoring of gas is necessary to ensure safety and stable operation. Raman gas spectroscopy is favored for future point-of-use monitoring, offering comprehensive analysis of fuel gas components.
