Hematite-based photoelectrochemical interfaces for solar fuel production

Serena Berardi et al.

Summary: The production of solar fuels is an important strategy to meet the increasing global energy demand sustainably. Solar energy is abundant and inexhaustible, but intermittent. Photo-electrochemical cells are commonly used to store solar energy as chemical energy, and hematite is a promising material for this purpose.

Facile Zn and Ni Co-Doped Hematite Nanorods for Efficient Photocatalytic Water Oxidation

Joan Talibawo et al.

Summary: In this study, zinc and nickel co-doping of hydrothermally synthesized hematite nanorods was used to enhance the photoelectrochemical water splitting process. The doped samples showed high photon absorption and narrow bandgaps within the visible spectrum. The optimal doping condition resulted in significantly increased photocurrent density compared to undoped samples, as well as increased dopant concentration.

Enhanced photoelectrochemical water oxidation in Hematite: Accelerated charge separation with Co doping

Jiajia Cai et al.

Summary: In this study, a Co-doped alpha-Fe2O3 photoanode was prepared to improve charge separation efficiency and accelerate surface reaction kinetics for photoelectrochemical water splitting. With the optimal Co content, the photocurrent density increased significantly and the onset potential for oxygen evolution reaction shifted cathodically, demonstrating the key roles of Co doping in enhancing the performance of hematite photoanodes for solar hydrogen technology.
