Virtual screening of curcumin and its analogs against the spike surface glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV

Ashish Patel et al.

Summary: COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, shares similarities with 2002 SARS-CoV and both use similar mechanisms to enter host cells. This study explores the potential of curcumin and its derivatives as inhibitors of the spike protein, which plays a crucial role in viral entry. However, further research is needed to investigate their efficacy.

TLR9 and COVID-19: A Multidisciplinary Theory of a Multifaceted Therapeutic Target

Gillina F. G. Bezemer et al.

Summary: By comparing the clinical pathophysiology of COVID-19 with insights from various fields, it is suggested that TLR9 may play a pivotal role in the disease's pathogenesis. Urgent measures are needed to identify biomarkers and drug candidates for early recognition of vulnerable individuals and prevention of severe multi-organ complications. The hypothesis proposes TLR9 as a promising intervention target for prevention and treatment of COVID-19, with potential applications in vaccine adjuvants and therapeutic immune stimulators.

Summary: COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2 has led to a pandemic. TLRs play a crucial role in activating the immune system in response to the virus, and could potentially be a target for controlling the infection. Understanding the mechanisms of TLR in COVID-19 may help in developing vaccines and treatments.
