Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute Coronary Syndromes A Review

Deepak L. Bhatt et al.

Summary: This review discusses the current evidence on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, management, and prognosis of acute coronary syndromes (ACS). ACS is a sudden reduction in blood supply to the heart and includes ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), non-STEMI (NSTEMI), and unstable angina. Each year, more than 7 million people are diagnosed with ACS worldwide. Prompt intervention, such as primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for STEMI patients and invasive coronary angiography with revascularization for high-risk NSTE-ACS patients, is associated with reduced mortality.

The Regulation Mechanisms and Clinical Application of MicroRNAs in Myocardial Infarction: A Review of the Recent 5 Years

Chan Wu et al.

Summary: Myocardial infarction (MI) is a common cardiovascular disease with high mortality. MiRNAs play a crucial regulatory role in MI, involving mechanisms such as apoptosis, autophagy, proliferation, and inflammation. Furthermore, miRNAs also regulate structural changes after MI, including angiogenesis, myocardial remodeling, and fibrosis.

Circulating microRNAs as predictive biomarkers of coronary artery diseases in type 2 diabetes patients

Golnoosh Mahjoob et al.

Summary: The dysregulation of miRNAs plays a significant role in the development of both T2DM and CAD. The alteration of circulating miRNAs can serve as biomarkers for the early detection of CAD in T2DM patients.

Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells-derived exosomal microRNA-17-3p ameliorates inflammatory reaction and antioxidant injury of mice with diabetic retinopathy via targeting STAT1

Wei Li et al.

Summary: Injection of exosomes containing miR-17-3p derived from hucMSCs reduced blood glucose and HbAlc, increased weight and Hb content, decreased inflammatory factors and VEGF, alleviated oxidative injury, and inhibited retinal cell apoptosis in DR mice through inhibiting STAT1.

Sheyda Houshmandfar et al.

Summary: miR-223, a hematopoietic cell-derived miRNA, potentially plays a crucial role in the immunopathogenesis of COVID-19 by targeting multiple factors to control inflammation and exhibiting antioxidant and antiviral effects.

miR-101-3p negatively regulates inflammation in systemic lupus erythematosus via MAPK1 targeting and inhibition of the NF-κB pathway

Xiaoying Zhao et al.

Summary: miR-101-3p is downregulated in SLE PBMCs and negatively regulates IL-10 and IFN-γ expression by targeting MAPK1. Overexpression of miR-101-3p attenuates the inflammatory response in SLE PBMCs by inhibiting MAPK1 expression and blocking the NF-κB pathway. These findings reveal a novel regulatory mechanism in SLE inflammation and suggest a new direction for the development of SLE treatments.

Inflammasomes and Fibrosis

Wen-Juan Zhang et al.

Summary: Fibrosis is the final common pathway of inflammatory diseases in various organs, and inflammasomes, especially NLRP3, play a crucial role in this process. Inflammasomes can be activated through classical and non-classical pathways, with the former being better understood.
