Genomic characterization of viruses associated with the parasitoid Anagyrus vladimiri (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae)

Yehuda Izraeli et al.

Summary: Knowledge on non-pathogenic viruses in insects is limited, but recent research has revealed three novel viruses (AnvRV, AnvIFV, and AnvDV) in the parasitoid wasp Anagyrus vladimiri. These viruses were found to be vertically transmitted and had higher prevalence in mass rearing populations. AnvDV was positively correlated with the presence of Wolbachia. These findings suggest that RNA viruses may play a role in the multitrophic system of mealybugs and their parasitoids.

Metatranscriptomic Analysis Reveals the Virome and Viral Genomic Evolution of Medically Important Mites

Liping Guo et al.

Summary: This study characterized the diversity and abundance of viruses present in medically important mites, identifying 47 genetically distinct viruses belonging to 17 virus families or supergroups. The most commonly identified viruses were found to be members of Picornavirales, with potential implications for parallel evolution. The comprehensive screening of RNA virome in mites provides significant insights into the diversity and evolution of RNA viruses in these organisms and their potential role in human diseases.
