Advanced Maternal Age and Its Association With Cardiovascular Disease in Later Life

Carrie Wolfson et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate whether advanced maternal age is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease later in life. After adjusting for factors related to maternal age, the study found no evidence to suggest that older maternal age is linked to a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease in the future.

Summary: The prevalence of preeclampsia and cardiovascular disease risk factors is higher in US-born non-Hispanic Black women compared to foreign-born women, but foreign-born women with less than 10 years of US residence have lower prevalence rates. Factors associated with giving birth at advanced maternal age in the United States

Shannon Maloney et al.

Summary: This study used multivariate logistic regression analysis on a cross-sectional retrospective sample of American mothers to identify predictors of advanced maternal age (AMA) births. Factors such as previous live birth experiences, number of children, pregnancy intentions, education levels, income, marital status, urbanicity, and race/ethnicity were found to be significant predictors of AMA births. The findings suggest that there are multiple subtypes of women who enter pregnancy at an advanced maternal age, highlighting the need for a better understanding of the factors leading to AMA pregnancies.
