Exploring activity compensation amongst youth and adults: a systematic review

Brittany A. Swelam et al.

Summary: Despite significant efforts to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior, interventions have had limited success in sustaining behavior change over time. Summary: This study shows initial evidence that the message to break up sitting may have a greater impact on children's movement behavior than the message to move more. Future research is needed to further validate the effectiveness of this type of messaging.
