Clinical practice guidelines for management of hyperglycaemia in adults with diabetic kidney disease

Janaka Karalliedde et al.

Summary: A significant percentage of people with diabetes develop chronic kidney disease and diabetes is a leading cause of end-stage kidney disease. Hyperglycemia is a modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular complications and progression of DKD. Recent clinical trials have shown the benefits of SGLT-2 inhibitors in improving clinical outcomes for DKD patients.

Clinical Efficacy Evaluation and Potential Mechanism of Zhishe Tongluo Capsule in the Treatment of Cerebral Infarction by Meta-Analysis Associated with Network Pharmacology

Zhi Xin Geng et al.

Summary: By integrating meta-analysis and network pharmacology strategy, this study evaluated the clinical efficacy of Zhishe Tongluo capsule in treating cerebral infarction and explored its intervention mechanism. The results indicated that Zhishe Tongluo capsule can improve the clinical efficacy of cerebral infarction and has advantages in regulating blood lipids and hemorheology. However, the overall evidence level is low and further large-scale and multicenter RCTs are needed for support.

Steroidal and non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists in cardiorenal medicine

Rajiv Agarwal et al.

Summary: This review covers the development of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs) over the last 80 years, discussing the differences in mechanisms and effects between nonsteroidal and steroidal MRAs. Nonsteroidal MRAs demonstrate important distinctions in distribution, binding mode, and gene expression compared to steroidal MRAs.

Anti-diabetic Potential of a Stigmasterol From the Seaweed Gelidium spinosum and Its Application in the Formulation of Nanoemulsion Conjugate for the Development of Functional Biscuits

Navya Poulose et al.

Summary: This study extracted phytosterol from the seaweed Gelidium spinosum using the Soxhlet method, identifying it as stigmasterol through chemical characterization. The in vitro assays confirmed stigmasterol's antioxidant and alpha-amylase inhibitory activities, while in vivo studies demonstrated its anti-diabetic effects in hyperglycemic rats induced by streptozotocin. Additionally, the stigmasterol-incorporated biscuits showed improved nutritional values, lower moisture content, lighter color, and softer texture, with sensorial results indicating acceptability compared to the control.

Based on Network Pharmacology and Molecular Docking to Explore the Underlying Mechanism of Huangqi Gegen Decoction for Treating Diabetic Nephropathy

Shanshan Ding et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential mechanism of Huangqi Gegen decoction (HGD) in treating diabetic nephropathy (DN) using a systems pharmacology approach. The findings suggest that HGD may delay the progression of DN through multi-component, multi-target, and multi-channel combined action.
