Experimental and finite element vibration analysis of CNT reinforced MR elastomer sandwich beam

Rajeshkumar Selvaraj et al.

Summary: This study presents the free vibration analysis of carbon nanotubes reinforced magnetorheological elastomer (CNT-MRE) sandwich beam. The experimentally measured natural frequencies and damping factors of sandwich beams with and without CNT reinforcement are validated through a 3D finite element model. The study demonstrates that the presence of carbon nanotubes improves the vibration behavior of MR elastomer.

Longitudinal bending of corrugated sandwich panels with cores of various shapes

Fukun Xia et al.

Summary: The mechanical response of aluminium corrugated sandwich panels with different core shapes under longitudinal three-point bending is studied in this paper. Experimental and numerical methods are used, and the results are in good agreement. Parametric studies are conducted to investigate the effects of core parameters, and two deformation modes are observed. Finally, a multiobjective Bayesian optimization method is applied to optimize the geometry of trapezoidal corrugated sandwich panels to enhance specific energy absorption and reduce intrusion depth.

Free vibration analysis and optimization of doubly-curved stiffened sandwich shells with functionally graded skins and auxetic honeycomb core layer

Hoang-Anh Pham et al.

Summary: This study introduces an analytical approach for the free vibration analysis of doubly curved stiffened sandwich shells with functionally graded face sheets and an auxetic honeycomb core layer. Numerical results show that the fundamental frequency is significantly influenced by the constituent materials of the face layers, the geometrical parameters of the auxetic honeycomb core layer, and the stiffeners. A simple optimization technique based on Rao algorithms is proposed to maximize the natural frequency of the shell by adjusting parameters such as the thickness of the core and the number of stiffeners.
