Intelligent denoise laser ultrasonic imaging for inspection of selective laser melting components with rough surface

Wanli Xu et al.

Summary: An intelligent denoise laser ultrasonic imaging method was developed in this study to inspect micro defects on the rough surface of SLM components. The denoising algorithm successfully increased the average SNR from 27.0 dB to 35.2 dB, allowing for the detection and sizing of all holes based on high SNR images. The proposed method shows great potential for online inspection of SLM parts.

Femtosecond laser ultrasonic inspection of a moving object and its application to estimation of silicon wafer coating thickness

Kiyoon Yi et al.

Summary: A system using femtosecond laser to generate and sense ultrasounds for noncontact inspection of moving objects has been developed, which utilizes pump and probe laser pulses to achieve ultra-short pulse durations and minimize distortion caused by object motion. Measurements from a silicon wafer moving horizontally show good agreement with those obtained from a stationary condition, successfully estimating the thickness of a submicrometer coating layer while the wafer is moving up to 20 mm/s.

Sign coherence factor-based search algorithm for defect localization with laser generated Lamb waves

Honglei Chen et al.

Summary: This study proposes a defect localization algorithm based on the sign coherence factor for Lamb wave signals generated by lasers. By analyzing the characteristics of Lamb wave defect localization and incorporating signal sign with the characteristics, a mathematical model and search algorithm for individual scatterers are designed. The effectiveness of the algorithm is verified through two laser defect detection experiments.
