Compact scheme for fractional diffusion-wave equation with spatial variable coefficient and delays

Qifeng Zhang et al.

Summary: In this paper, numerical methods are studied for the spatial variable coefficient fractional convection-diffusion wave equation with single delay and multi-delay cases. The well-known exponential transformation is used to simplify the delay problem, enabling the use of variable coefficient four-order compact operator. The convergence and almost unconditional stability of the numerical scheme are proven using energy argument.

Adaptive numerical solutions of time-fractional advection-diffusion-reaction equations

Alessandra Jannelli

Summary: In this paper, an adaptive procedure is proposed for solving time-fractional advection-diffusion-reaction equations involving the Caputo derivative, focusing on adaptivity in the time direction by defining a step size selection function based on the local behavior of the solution. The new approach is easy to implement with low computational cost, and test problems confirm the accuracy and efficiency of the step-size selection procedure for solving fractional partial differential equations.

A robust adaptive moving mesh technique for a time-fractional reaction-diffusion model

Pradip Roul

Summary: This work focuses on designing an adaptive numerical scheme for solving a time-fractional reaction-diffusion model. By constructing an adaptive moving grid approach and a compact finite difference scheme, the singularity at the initial time is handled. Numerical results demonstrate the proposed adaptive numerical algorithm has an accuracy advantage.

Meshless finite difference method with B-splines for numerical solution of coupled advection-diffusion-reaction problems

Mas Irfan P. Hidayat

Summary: This paper presents a meshless finite difference method utilizing B-splines for numerical solution of coupled advection-diffusion-reaction problems. The method is mathematically simple to program and truly meshless, demonstrating effectiveness, high resolution, stability, and robustness in capturing problem dynamics accurately without domain shape restrictions. Additionally, the method's convergence rate is empirically shown to be high, making it an accurate and effective solver for such problems in two-dimensional domains.
