Role of Cu addition in enhancing strength-ductility synergy in transforming high entropy alloy

Priyanka Agrawal et al.

Summary: This research focuses on tailoring the metastability of transformation induced plasticity high entropy alloys (TRIP HEAs) through alloying and processing to improve their mechanical properties. The addition of Cu enhances the ductility and stacking fault energy of the alloy, resulting in improved strength and work hardening. Furthermore, friction stir processing (FSP) is employed to refine the microstructure and enhance the TRIP effect, leading to advanced properties compared to the original as-cast alloy.

Excellent combination of cryogenic strength and ductility of a metastable Fe65Ni15Co8Mn8Ti3Si medium entropy alloy through the exceptional deformation-induced martensitic transformation

Farahnaz Haftlang et al.

Summary: In this study, the cryogenic tensile properties of a metastable medium entropy alloy (MEA) and the impact of transformation-induced plasticity on the strength-ductility synergy were investigated. The results showed that the as-annealed specimen exhibited excellent mechanical strength and ductility due to the high strain-hardening rate. Numerical analysis provided insights into the strain distribution and its correlation with the martensitic fraction, contributing to the development of improved ferrous MEAs/HEAs.

The high temperature mechanical properties and the correlated microstructure/texture evolutions of a TWIP high entropy alloy

A. Nabizada et al.

Summary: This study investigates the microstructure and texture evolutions of a TWIP-type high entropy alloy at various deformation temperatures, revealing extraordinary work hardening behavior at room temperature. The alloy's work hardening capacity deteriorated at higher temperatures due to increased dislocation annihilation rate and stacking fault energy values, but its ability for dislocation storage remained high compared to other single-phase high entropy alloys. Serrated flow was observed at 773 and 873K due to the dynamic strain aging mechanism, which surprisingly had a beneficial effect on overall ductility.

Evidence of FCC to HCP and BCC-martensitic transformations in a CoCrFeNiMn high-entropy alloy by severe plastic deformation

Hamed Shahmir et al.

Summary: High-pressure torsion on an equiatomic CoCrFeNiMn high entropy alloy at room and cryogenic temperatures induces FCC to HCP and BCC martensitic transformations, effectively strengthening the alloy through increasing straining and decreasing deformation temperature. This transformation plays a significant role in altering the mechanical properties of the alloy under different deformation conditions.

Summary: The compressive response of a novel Fe38.5Mn20Co20Cr15Si5Cu1.5 high entropy alloy fabricated by laser powder bed fusion was studied at different strain rates. The mechanical response and work hardening rate were found to be correlated with martensitic transformation, phase evolution, and adiabatic heating. Experimental results showed the best correlation with the Khan-Liu model among existing empirical constitutive models.
