Boosted degradation of tetracycline over a novel hierarchical 2D/1D S-scheme heterojunction Bi2O4 @SnS under visible light irradiation

Shenggeng Zhao et al.

Summary: The construction of Bi2O4 @SnS 2D/1D hierarchical heterojunction with excellent light harvesting ability has significantly enhanced the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline under visible light. The degradation rate constant of tetracycline over Bi2O4@SnS was 3.3 and 10.6 times higher than that over Bi2O4 and SnS, respectively. The enhanced photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the successful construction of the heterojunction and the increased specific surface area and broadened visible-light absorption region.

Spindle-like MIL101(Fe) decorated with Bi2O3 nanoparticles for enhanced degradation of chlortetracycline under visible-light irradiation

Chen-chen Hao et al.

Summary: Improving the photocatalytic performance of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) by anchoring zero-dimensional Bi2O3 nanoparticles to the surface of tridimensional MIL101(Fe) was investigated. The novel 0D/3D heterojunction Bi2O3/MIL101(Fe) (BOM) composite exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity in degrading chlortetracycline (CTC) under visible-light irradiation. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was attributed to the formation of a Z-scheme heterojunction between Bi2O3 and MIL101(Fe), which facilitated the rapid separation of photogenerated carriers and the enhancement of photo-generated electron and hole redox capacity.
