Wet-chemical synthesis of nanostructured Ce-doped mixed metal ferrites for the effective removal of azo dyes from industrial discharges

Tehmina Kousar et al.

Summary: Photocatalysis is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly technique for addressing water pollution caused by industrialization. In this study, Ce-doped cobalt/nickel mixed metal ferrite materials were synthesized using the microemulsion method. The C-9@CNMF material exhibited better mineralization of the CR dye, faster mineralization rate, and excellent recyclability and photo-corrosion resistance. These superior photocatalytic properties are attributed to the nanoarchitecture, larger specific surface area, tunable bandgap, and effective charge separation characteristics of the C-9@CNMF sample.

Fabrication of different conductive matrix supported binary metal oxides for supercapacitors applications

Nusrat Shaheen et al.

Summary: The study fabricated spinet binary-metal oxide (FeCo2O4) through a solvent-free and cost-effective approach, and prepared nanocomposites with three different conductive matrices. The FeCo2O4/PANI nanocomposite exhibited the highest specific capacitance and excellent cyclic stability, attributed to its high conductivity, large surface area, and synergy effects. The electrochemical and electrical measurements suggested that the FeCo2O4/PANI nanostructure is a promising contender for energy storage applications.

Graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide supported ZnO nanochips for removal of basic dyes from the industrial effluents

Khadija Chaudhary et al.

Summary: The synthesis of highly active and cheap photo-catalyst materials consisting of ZnO nanochips assembled over graphene derivatives, ZnO@GO and ZnO@RGO, was investigated. Results showed that ZnO@RGO had higher efficiency with 2.4 and 2 times higher kinetic rates for RhB and MB removal, respectively, attributed to the partially restored conjugated structure of RGO leading to better charge migration across semiconductor-carbon heterojunctions. The active species involved in the degradation process were systematically investigated, and a photo-catalytic mechanism was proposed, demonstrating good recyclability and resistance to photo-corrosion for both ZnO@GO and ZnO@RGO even after 360 minutes of consecutive photo-catalytic activity.
