Investigation in μ-WEDM of Inconel 625 superalloy using RSM-CCD technique

R. Vijayakumar et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of wire material on the machined surface quality of Inconel 625 superalloy in micro wire electric discharge machining (mu-WEDM). By adjusting the machining parameters, the optimal parameters are predicted using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Desirability Analysis (DA). The results show that zinc-coated brass wire performs better than plain brass wire in terms of machining rate.

Effect of ultrasonic low-frequency vibration and its direction on machinability in WEDM process

Nguyen Huu Phan et al.

Summary: The study shows that the relationship between vibration direction and cutting direction has an influence on the quality measures of EDM machining of SKD 61 steel, with parallel direction vibration resulting in higher material exclusion and lower surface roughness and kerf width. Utilizing the Taguchi-DEAR optimization method can further improve the quality measures in the machining process.

Wire Electric Discharge Machining Induced Surface Integrity for Ni55.95Ti44.05Shape Memory Alloy

Himanshu Bisaria et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the impact of various process parameters on the surface integrity aspects of NiTi shape memory alloy during wire electric discharge machining. The results showed a direct relationship between micro-hardness and certain parameters, while surface crack density was influenced by different factors. The machined surface exhibited different types of defects and foreign elements were detected during analysis. Energy density and pulse off time played a significant role in the surface morphology.

Tribological investigations of wear resistant layers developed through EDA and WEDA techniques on Ti6Al4V surfaces: Part II - High temperature

Jibin T. Philip et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of surface treatment technologies on the friction and wear performance of Ti64, finding that WETi64 exhibits excellent wear resistance at 200°C and 400°C, while showing similar behavior to BTi64 at 600°C. The wear mechanism of ETi64 and WETi64 specimens shifts with temperature, from abrasive wear to delamination, composite wear to oxidative wear, and oxidative wear to delamination, respectively.
