Modeling a Dynamic Printability Window on Polysaccharide Blend Inks for Extrusion Bioprinting

Carlos Mota et al.

Summary: Extrusion-based bioprinting is a widely used technology due to its affordability and wide range of processable materials. However, the formulation of new inks for this technique is time-consuming. This study developed a dynamic printability window model to assess the printability of polysaccharide blend inks and successfully verified its predictive capability on an untested blend.

The Influence of Rheological and Wetting Properties of Hydrogel-based Bio-Inks on Extrusion-based Bioprinting

Bruna Regina Maciel et al.

Summary: The wall slip and flow behavior of alginate and gelatin based hydrogels were investigated, and the impact of these rheological and wetting properties on extrusion-based bioprinting (EBB) was studied. It was found that alginate hydrogels exhibit stronger slip than gelatin gels, which has a negative impact on the printing quality.

Evaluation of Printing Parameters on 3D Extrusion Printing of Pluronic Hydrogels and Machine Learning Guided Parameter Recommendation

Zhouquan Fu et al.

Summary: Bioprinting is a novel technology used for creating complex 3D structures for biomedical applications, with challenges in manipulating material properties and printing parameters. This study investigates the impact of various print parameters on printability and develops a machine learning model to optimize printing parameters. The results show the effects of different parameters on the printability of Pluronic F127 and the Support Vector Machine model generated a process map for selecting optimal printing parameters. Future work will explore more generalized machine learning models in bioprinting.
