New Trichothecenes Isolated from the Marine Algicolous Fungus Trichoderma brevicompactum

Safwan Safwan et al.

Summary: In this study, eight trichothecenes and one cyclonerane were isolated and identified from the solid-state fermentation of Trichoderma brevicompactum NTU439 isolated from the marine alga Mastophora rosea. Compound 8 showed promising cytotoxic activity against multiple cancer cell lines, and other compounds also exhibited certain biological activities.

MK-6482 as a potential treatment for von Hippel-Lindau disease-associated clear cell renal cell carcinoma

Elshad Hasanov et al.

Summary: Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is a genetic syndrome caused by mutations in the VHL gene, resulting in tumors and cysts in multiple organs. Surgery is the standard treatment for localized tumors, but repeated surgeries lead to significant morbidity. MK-6482, a small-molecule HIF 2 alpha inhibitor, has shown promising efficacy and safety in VHL disease-related tumors.

Review of management and treatment of peritoneal metastases from gastric cancer origin

Israel Manzanedo et al.

Summary: Gastric cancer with peritoneal metastases has a low survival rate, with palliative systemic chemotherapy as the standard treatment. The combination of cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy has shown promising results in improving survival rates.

Effects of Dietary n-3 and n-6 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Inflammation and Cancerogenesis

Kamila P. Liput et al.

Summary: It is recommended to reduce saturated fatty acids (SFA) and increase polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) n-3 and n-6 in the diet to lower the risk of metabolic disorders. Western-type diet often contains excessive n-6 PUFAs and a high n-6/n-3 ratio. Oxylipins derived from n-3 and n-6 PUFAs play a role in inflammation, while PUFAs have varying effects on cell growth, proliferation, and neoplastic lesion progression, as observed in in vitro studies, animal models, and epidemiological studies.

Taxonomic and functional diversity of benthic macrofauna associated with rhodolith beds in SE Brazil

Patricia Sarcinelli Stelzer et al.

Summary: Rhodolith beds provide a unique habitat for benthic macrofaunal communities with exclusive functional and taxonomic richness. The density and morphology of rhodoliths influence the macrofaunal assemblages, with higher density beds supporting greater diversity and different dominant species.
