Achieving global malaria eradication in changing landscapes

Kimberly M. Fornace et al.

Summary: Land use and land cover changes have complex impacts on malaria transmission, requiring multisectoral cooperation to minimize negative effects while supporting malaria control and elimination efforts. Consideration of changing risks and integrating malaria impacts into land management decisions can accelerate progress towards malaria eradication.

Larval habitat diversity and Anopheles mosquito species distribution in different ecological zones in Ghana

Isaac A. Hinne et al.

Summary: This study in rural communities in Ghana found that dug-out wells in the coastal savannah and forest zones, and furrows from irrigated canals in the Sahel savannah zone were the most productive breeding habitats for Anopheles mosquitoes. The increased abundance in the rainy season was one of the reasons for more larvae.
