Test-retest reliability of 3D velocity-selective arterial spin labeling for detecting normal variations of cerebral blood flow

Feng Xu et al.

Summary: This MRI study evaluated the test-retest reliability of VSI-prepared 3D VSASL protocol to measure baseline CBF variations in different brain regions among cognitively normal participants. The study found that both absolute and relative CBF showed higher variability, but could still detect normal variations using VSASL.

Christian R. Meixner et al.

Summary: This study aimed to improve pseudo-continuous arterial spin labeling (pcASL) at 7T by using a hybrid B1+-shim, adapted gradient strength, and background suppression. The results showed that this combination has great potential for enhancing pcASL labeling at 7T under suboptimal B1+ conditions.

A revisit of the k-space filtering effects of magnetization-prepared 3D FLASH and balanced SSFP acquisitions: Analytical characterization of the point spread functions

Dan Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, the magnetization-prepared 3D FLASH and balanced SSFP imaging in MRI were analyzed using point spread functions (PSF). The results showed that the slope of the PSF can characterize the relative contrast between different magnetization preparation levels, while the intercept of the PSF may lead to quantification bias in imaging. In addition, FLASH and bSSFP imaging have very little blurring effect compared to conventional fast spin echo (FSE). The study also provided analytical selections of sequence parameters to optimize relative contrast-to-noise ratio (ruCNR).

Ensuring both velocity and spatial responses robust to B0/B1+ field inhomogeneities for velocity-selective arterial spin labeling through dynamic phase-cycling

Dapeng Liu et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the velocity and spatial responses of velocity-selective arterial spin labeling under different field inhomogeneities, proposing a dynamic phase-cycling approach that showed considerable improvements over existing schemes. This approach demonstrated robustness in both velocity and spatial responses across a wide range of B-0 and B-1(+) field inhomogeneities through numerical simulations, phantom scans, and brain perfusion measurements.

Dapeng Liu et al.

Summary: This study utilized various MRI techniques to quantitatively measure cerebral hemodynamic parameters in neonatal piglets, demonstrating the feasibility of these techniques in assessing CBF, OEF, and CMRO2. The results indicate that non-contrast MRI can be used to measure cerebral hemodynamic parameters in normal and brain-injured piglets.

Three-dimensional whole -brain mapping of cerebral blood volume and venous cerebral blood volume using Fourier transform based velocity -selective pulse trains

Wenbo Li et al.

Summary: In this study, 3D MR1 methods were developed for cerebral blood volume (CBV) and venous cerebral blood volume (vCBV) estimation with whole-brain coverage using Fourier transform based velocity-selective (FT-VS) pulse trains. Results showed high correlation of CBV and vCBV values in gray and white matter in different brain regions among healthy volunteers. The feasibility of FT-VS-based CBV and vCBV estimation for 3D acquisition with large spatial coverage was demonstrated.
