TITANIA: Model-Free Interpretation of Residual Dipolar Couplings in the Context of Organic Compounds

Felix A. Roth et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method for the joint determination of conformation and configuration of organic compounds using vector and dynamics information available in multialignment data sets. It shows that even a flat or random start structure can converge into the correctly configured structure when employing multiple alignment data sets in an iterative procedure. The requirements in terms of the number of RDCs and alignment media necessary are discussed in detail.

Model free analysis of experimental residual dipolar couplings in small organic compounds

Felix A. Roth et al.

Summary: Residual dipolar couplings (RDCs) provide information on the relative arrangement and dynamics of internuclear spin vectors in chemical compounds. The software TITANIA facilitates structure refinement for small organic compounds by extracting structure and dynamics parameters directly from RDCs. Despite not all couplings being accessible, experimental data obtained from currently available alignment media and measurement methods are of sufficient quality to determine relative configuration even when the analyte's relative configuration is completely unknown.

Copolyaspartates: Uncovering Simultaneous Thermo and Magnetoresponsiveness

Max Hirschmann et al.

Summary: The study found that temperature and magnetic field have different effects on the structure and orientation of poly-beta-benzyl-L-aspartate-co-poly-beta-phenethyl-L-aspartates, and that changes in copolymer composition can affect these effects, while deuterium labeling also impacts the transition temperatures.

Investigations of the Alignment Process of PBPMLG: 2H NMR Analysis reveals a thermoresponsive 90° Flip of the Polymer

Dominic S. Schirra et al.

Summary: The application of anisotropic parameters in NMR-spectroscopy enables the acquisition of spatial and angular information complementary to conventional isotropic NMR-measurements. PBPMLG, a recently discovered polyglutamate-based alignment medium, exhibits thermoresponsive behavior in the lyotropic liquid crystalline phase, offering potential for deeper understanding of the alignment process. Investigating the thermoresponsive behavior by synthesizing deuterated PBPMLG-isotopologues and their subsequent analyses using H-2 NMR-spectroscopy have revealed new insights in the alignment process.
