Pt nanoparticles coupled with perylene-based small molecule deposited on Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanorods-An inorganic/organic type-II nanoheterostructure for efficient visible-light photoelectrochemical water oxidation

Himadri Shekhar Karmakar et al.

Summary: In this article, we present a type-II inorganic/organic nanoheterostructure for visible-light-driven water oxidation. The nanoheterostructure consists of Ti(3+)-self-doped TiO2 nanorods and a newly synthesized tetrathiophene coupled perylene-based molecule. The addition of platinum nanoparticles further enhances the photoelectrochemical performances. The results show improved photocurrent density, photoconversion efficiency, and stability.

Synthesis of diketopyrrolopyrrole and anthraquinone-based polymers of D-A1-D-A2 architecture by direct arylation polycondensation and designing inorganic/organic nano-heterostructured photoanodes for visible light water splitting

Nani Gopal Ghosh et al.

Summary: This article reports the synthesis of two polymers with D-A1-D-A2 architecture and the fabrication of n-n inorganic/organic nano-heterostructure photoanodes. The photoanodes demonstrate enhanced photocurrent density and cathodically shifted water oxidation onset potential, attributed to the polymers' broad-spectrum light absorption capability, suitable band alignment between inorganic and organic components, and efficient charge carrier separation and transportation.

The type-II n-n inorganic/organic nano-heterojunction of Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanorods and conjugated co-polymers for photoelectrochemical water splitting and photocatalytic dye degradation

Nani Gopal Ghosh et al.

Summary: This article reports the synthesis of two organic semiconductors coupled with Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 nanorods to create type-II n-n inorganic/organic nano-heterostructures. These nano-heterostructures not only enhance visible-light absorption but also improve the delocalization and transportation of photogenerated carriers due to advantageous band alignments. The organic semiconductors exhibit better photoelectrochemical performances than Ti3+/TiO2 NRs, with TP1 NHs showing the highest photocatalytic efficiency.

Efficient photocatalytic H2O2 production from oxygen and pure water over graphitic carbon nitride decorated by oxidative red phosphorus

Jingzhen Zhang et al.

Summary: Efficient photocatalytic production of H2O2 in pure water was achieved by decorating graphitic carbon nitride with oxidative red phosphorus, leading to significant enhancement of H2O2 generation compared to pristine GCN. The strategy of utilizing red phosphorus for promoting charge separation while suppressing H2O2 decomposition opens up a new pathway for designing highly active metal-free photocatalysts for solar-to-H2O2 conversion in pure water.
