Polysaccharide prediction in Ganoderma lucidum fruiting body by hyperspectral imaging

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: This study explores the possibility of using hyperspectral imaging (HSI) to predict the polysaccharide content of Ganoderma lucidum in a nondestructive way during its growth. The study shows that the partial least square regression (PLSR) model, with the pretreatment method of Savitzky-Golay (SG) and standard normal variate (SNV), and the feature selection method of successive projections algorithm (SPA), performs well in predicting polysaccharide content. This study indicates that HSI can quickly and nondestructively detect the polysaccharide content of Ganoderma lucidum, providing guidance for the cultivation industry and improving economic benefits.

Non-destructive determination of total sugar content in tobacco filament based on calibration transfer with parameter free adjustment

Yingrui Geng et al.

Summary: The study proposes an efficient non-supervised parameter-free calibration enhancement method for quality assessment in the tobacco industry. It corrects the effects of moisture and material scattering on spectral absorption in the calibration transfer from dried tobacco powder to undried tobacco samples. Compared to other calibration methods, the proposed method achieves the best prediction results. Additionally, competitive adaptive reweighted sampling, variable combination population analysis, and variable combination population analysis genetic algorithm are employed to select important wavelengths and optimize the calibration effect and transfer efficiency.

Rapid detection of adulteration in powder of ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) by FT-NIR spectroscopy combined with chemometrics

Dai-xin Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, chromaticity analysis and Fourier transform near-infrared (FT-NIR) spectroscopy combined with chemometrics were used to identify and quantify ginger powder (GP) and its adulterants. The optimized NIR spectra accurately distinguished authentic GPs from adulterated samples, and random forest and gradient boosting algorithms showed the highest classification accuracies. A quantitative model was also successfully established to predict the adulteration level in GP. Overall, FT-NIR spectroscopy is a promising tool for identifying potential adulteration in GP and tracking the types of adulterants.
