Dynamic Transmissive Metasurface for Broadband Phase-Only Modulation Based on Phase-Change Materials

Shaobin Zhuo et al.

Summary: Dynamic metasurfaces offer opportunities for compact and high-resolution spatial light modulation. Existing designs suffer from efficiency issues due to coupling between amplitude and phase modulation. A new design employing Huygens metasurface and phase-change material enables wideband phase modulation with high transmittance and provides a potential solution for efficiency and bandwidth problems in spatial light modulation.

Tunable band-pass optical vortex processor enabled by wash-out-refill chiral superstructures

Chun-Ting Xu et al.

Summary: This research successfully demonstrated the alignment of a polymerizable cholesteric liquid crystal using a dynamic photo-patterning technique, resulting in the reconstruction of a designed chiral superstructure. A Dammann grating encoded q-plate was fabricated through this method, showcasing its function as an optical vortex processor. The working band was electrically tuned and mode conversion was achieved based on the electric-driven band shift, offering a platform for multi-dimensional dynamic control of light.
