Removal of arsenic and selenium from brackish water using electrodialysis for drinking water production

Mehran Aliaskari et al.

Summary: In this study, the removal of arsenic and selenium from brackish water using a batch electrodialysis system was investigated. The results showed that the removal of these elements was influenced by pH and salinity, with higher concentrations leading to higher removal rates. Electromigration transport was found to be the dominant mechanism, and the ionic characteristics played a key role in the removal process. Real contaminated groundwater samples also demonstrated the potential of electrodialysis for selective removal of more mobile ions.

Mona M. Fawzy et al.

Summary: This paper describes a process for synthesizing gamma alumina from kaolinitic sandstone ore. The process involves recovering fine kaolin from the sandstones and transforming it into active meta-kaolin through calcination. Aluminum sulfate is then formed through interactions with metakaolin-H2SO4 and precipitation in ethanol solution. The resulting gamma-alumina is highly pure and has promising performance as a sorbent for rare earth species from waste materials.
